Your website and its conversations are stored on servers at Hetzner in Nuremberg, every chat travels encrypted, and visitors reach it from anywhere. Answers are generated by OpenAI or Anthropic in the USA under EU standard contractual clauses — a ready paragraph for your privacy policy comes with the assistant.

Questions

Questions before you switch it on.

What does the AI chatbot answer from?
Only from what you give it: the pages of your website, PDF, Word, text or Markdown documents you upload, texts you write, and exact answers you set for common questions. It does not use general knowledge and does not answer about other companies.
What happens when it does not know the answer?
It says so — in your words if you set them — and offers the visitor to leave a message. The details are emailed to you, and the unanswered question appears in your console so you can add the answer once.
Does it work on a website that is not built with Efforio?
Yes. One line of code adds it to any website — WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Webflow or your own — and it appears in your colours. On an Efforio website it is added by linking, with nothing to paste.
In which languages does it answer?
In the visitor's language by default, or always in one language you choose. The chat's own buttons and labels come in 15 languages, including German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Turkish and Arabic.
How does it stay up to date when I change my website?
Your website is read again every week, and one minute after you publish a change on an Efforio site. You can also have it read again at any time.
How does it handle personal data?
Conversations are stored in Germany and deleted after the period you set (90 days by default, up to two years). The chat sets no cookie and stores a visitor's IP address only as a code that changes daily. Answers are generated by OpenAI or Anthropic in the USA under EU standard contractual clauses; the assistant comes with a ready paragraph for your privacy policy and is covered by Efforio's data processing agreement.
How many messages are included?
1,000 visitor messages a month on Start, 5,000 on Business and 20,000 on Pro, for the whole workspace. When the allowance is used up, the chat offers visitors to leave a message instead, and messages still reach you by email.
Can a visitor talk to a person?
Not inside the chat yet. The assistant collects the visitor's details with a message form and emails them to you, and you reply by email. A handover to a person in the chat is planned.
